Zarazone SB 10002018-12-08T09:13:54+00:00

Zarazone SB injection is a combination of cefoparazone and sulbactum. Cefoparazone is a third generation antibiotic which is effective in treatment of pseudomonas bacterial infections.

Sulbactum is a beta-lactum inhibitor which inhibits beta-lactamase enzyme produced by the bacteria to protect from antibiotics.

  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Meningitis
  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Intra-abdominal infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Septicaemia
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Gynaecological infections

1-2 g daily, given in equally divided doses every 12 hours.

Cefoperazone causes inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis of actively dividing cells by binding to penicillin binding proteins. Sulbactum causes irreversible inactivation of beta-lactamases

After 1gm IV administration the serum concentration is obtained in 30min. The average peak plasma concentration achieved in 5mins.

The plasma protein binding of cefoperazone is 82-93% and sulbactum is 38%

Cefoperzone is excreted in urine mainly in bile. Sulbactum is excreted in urine during initial eight hours of administration

  • Allergy to penicillin
  • Hypersensitive reaction to any ingredient present
  • Serious and fatal reactions
  • With prolonged use, overgrowth of susceptible organism may occur
